The practice

App Meadow Core grew out of media planning rooms in the Klang Valley, where channel credit was argued after the burst rather than written down before it.

Quiet office corridor with soft daylight, typical of our Petaling Jaya rooms

We are not a media-buying house and not a creative studio. We sit after the plan is already live, or just as it closes, and reconstruct how credit should be shared. The work exists because Malaysian advertisers still run mixed plans: outdoor along federal roads, television around drama slots, retail media on marketplaces, shopper programmes in grocers, and increasingly an app flight that reports installs as if they were sales.

Origin

The practice started when two former planners kept being asked the same question in brand meetings: “If we cut this channel, what actually disappears?” Last-click extracts never answered it, and the contractor’s own study always favoured the contractor. We began writing credit tables by hand for a grocery advertiser in Selangor, then for a beauty brand whose 11.11 orders were almost entirely claimed by voucher codes. The name App Meadow Core stuck from an early study that had to treat app-campaign paths with the same seriousness as meadow-side outdoor boards on the PLUS highway — two very different objects, one credit problem.

How we work

Files come in. We reconcile spend to activity. We write the rules in sentences a finance lead can read. We apply the rules. We show where a different lag window would change the ranking. Then we sit with brand and agency in the same hour so the argument happens once, with the table in front of everyone.

We refuse studies that ask us to “prove” a channel that has no invoice. We also refuse to hide sensitivity: if moving from seven-day to fourteen-day credit flips outdoor and search, that flip is the finding.

People

Amina Rahman leads full-channel studies. She spent years inside a Kuala Lumpur media agency lining television and out-of-home for retail calendars, and still prefers a paper flight chart to a slide that hides the dates.

Wei Jun Tan reads app-campaign and marketplace paths. He used to sit with shopper teams who treated Shopee and TikTok Shop orders as if they had no prior outdoor or television influence. His job here is to keep those prior steps in the table.

Sofia Lim handles file hygiene and the conflict log — the unglamorous list of duplicated orders, missing flight days, and contractor logs that never arrived. Without that list, credit looks cleaner than the month really was.

Malaysia, specifically

Festival calendars, marketplace mega-days, and toll-road outdoor are not footnotes. A study that ignores Hari Raya lag or treats 11.11 voucher codes as ordinary search clicks will flatter digital unfairly. We keep those local facts in the method note rather than in a generic “market context” paragraph.

Values we actually use

  • Credit rules are written before numbers are published.
  • Brand, agency, and finance hear the same readout.
  • Unresolved channels stay unresolved; they are not forced into a neat ranking.

If that matches the argument you are already having, request a briefing.
